A story about zeynepi

I was stopping in Istanbul on my way down to Didim and zeynepi showed me around parts of the city I never knew existed. I had a great time! She’s great company and always has a smile on her face.

Why I want to meet Ross James

We’ve got a lot of work to clean up London in 43places and I owe him a pint to apologise for accidentally scuppering what he had started to do in this area.

Something that just happened to me

A story about Bruno Girin

Jesus H Christ, he’s got a massive camera. I mean, it’s like a camera, with another camera Velcroed onto it, and then another one on top of that. I couldn’t stop staring at it. He also has a shirt that’s patterened uncannily like my duvet cover, although you can’t really see on this pic.

Bruno is really great company. He was one of the few 43ers to come alone to the meet not knowing anyway, which makes him gut-wrenchingly brave, and boy, did he hold his own. His English is flawless, with an insane FrancoCockney accent, and he has developed punnability, which is very important. And wow, he’s fun! We had a riotous time, and Casey is right, he never stops smiling infectiously. He even dragged himself out to lunch the next day. Bruno, it really was un plaisir to meet you.

A story about Bruno Girin

The first thing you’ll notice about Bruno is his ENORMOUS

camera

Bruno seems like a whole lotta fun – he seems to be doing some serious pub research – and it was a pleasure to talk to him and get to see his giant apparatus up close…

A story about evenstar42

Like a few others at the meetup, I wish I could have talked more with evenstar but because her and Moose only found us late and had to leave early (to take a train back to Croydon apparently, lame excuse!), it was too short. So I think the only thing to do is start a petition for evenstar to come back to London and then we can all meet in Croydon so that her and Moose have no excuse to escape early.

Why I like Moose

How could you not like Moose? She is a great laugh and she is always smiling, as demonstrated by this picture.

Why I like Bruno Girin

When Bruno walked into the London meetup wielding a much fancier camera than mine, the model that I’d most like to have in the world, he was setting himself up to be disliked. I mean, look at him in this picture. The bastard is gloating, is he not? But getting a chance to talk to him over a couple nights of drinking totally immunized me from the possibility of disliking Bruno. He’s fun, he’s smart, he’s interesting, and he has the greatest hybrid accent I have ever heard. He also knows how to shoot (for example, note how he captured the depth and sobriety of his sitter in this portrait) and gave me a photography tip or two. The truth is, there is nobody who deserves a fancy camera more than Bruno. Next time I’m in London, I hope we get to talk some more over British ale.

A story about Bruno Girin

Bruuuuuuuno!

I met Bruno this past Saturday and he is just the rockinest. He first arrived at the meet-up, all smiley and Bruno-y. He’s seriously smiling all the time; it’s quite infectious. And that big camera that people have mentioned him carrying around? Yeah, it’s real. He has a big ass camera and he takes some damn good pictures on it.

Besides hanging out with me at the meet-up, Bruno also met up for lunch the following day, and met up with the crew our last night in London. The last night in London was a night of drunken silliness and I’m glad that Bruno was part of it.

I’m also glad Bruno was around because y’all: he knows his way around London. Bruno Girin is a fearless London navigator.

Aww, Bruno! What a great pal.

The last time I saw Paolo

Yesterday, as I was about to leave the office, Paolo sent me a text saying Casey, Todd, Alyssa and him were going to Vinopolis and did I want to join? I had nothing planned so accepted the offer immediately. One thing leading to another, we ended up in Soho where I had to make an early exit (sometime between 11 and midnight) to make sure I wouldn’t miss the last tube home and I would still be in good enough a state to go to work this morning. I so wish I could have stayed!

The result is that today was a long day and I was glad when it finished. I have been drinking a lot of water and am going to bed early…
